About MTCP

The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) was officially launched on 7 September 1980 at the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting in New Delhi, India, to signify Malaysia’s commitment to the South-South Cooperation, in particular, the Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC).

The MTCP emphasizes on the development of human resources through the provision of trainings in various areas which are essential for a country’s development such as the public administration, good governance, health, education, agriculture, sustainable development, poverty alleviation, economy and finance, ICT and environment. Annually, Malaysia offered more than 65 capacity-building and technical assistance programmes under the MTCP, which have benefited more than 34,000 participants from 144 countries.

TVET-PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME (PEEP):
SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN THE TIME OF COVID-19

A training course on TVET-Professional Educators Enhancement Programme (PEEP): Skill development in the time of Covid-19 was successfully organised by the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). This online course was conducted from 1st August until 5th August 2022. This course adopted interactive online activities, classes, group discussions, and presentations. Implementing this course enables Malaysia to share expertise and experiences in the area of TVET Educator. 13 Participants involved in this course were from Iran, Laos, Brunei Darussalam, Ecuador, Philippines, Jordan, Bhutan and Cambodia. They acted as mediators and small ambassadors for their countries to discuss and share experiences related to the skill development of TVET educator’s issues. Furthermore, Malaysia is one of the countries that emphasises bilateral relations to strengthen and empower the good relationship in stabilising the economy, politics and society in this region. In conjunction with that, this five-day course is one of the ways the Malaysian government strengthened the relationship between the countries involved. It is envisaged that the intellectual discourse from this programme will result in future collaborations between governments, universities, research institutions and industries at the international level.
 
The programme was officiated by Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Abdul Rasid bin Abdul Razzaq (Dean, Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education). At the opening ceremony, the official representative from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Malaysia, Mr. Mogen Selvaraja was also present to give a welcome speech. While in the closing session, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Musli bin Mohammad (Director of PPBA UTHM) presented closing remarks to the participants and trainers. The course was coordinated by the Centre for Continuous Learning and APEL (PPBA) under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Malaysia. Trainers for this course were Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mimi Mohaffyza binti Mohamad, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Badaruddin bin Ibrahim, Ts. Dr. D'oria Islamiah binti Rosli, Ts. Dr. Tee Tze Kiong, Ts. Dr. Yee Mei Heong, Dr. Nur Sofurah binti Mohd Faiz and Dr. Nurul Hidayah Liew Abdullah from the Centre of Research-Sustainable Professional Education for Excellent Development (SPEED), Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV).
